"A light to be a revelation to the nations and to be a glory to your people Israel." This verse is sung by the Redwoods community to commemorate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord at the Temple in Jerusalem.
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us;
upon his shoulder dominion rests.
They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero,
Father-Forever, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6)

Advent is a rich liturgical season celebrated in the church, especially monasteries, as a preparation for the coming of the Lord. It marks the beginning of the Church's calendar year and a new cycle in salvation history. Advent offers a critique of our consumer approach to Christmas.
