RB: Ch 57 The Artisans of the Monastery
Mass: Is 35:1-10; Resp Ps 85 (Is 35:4f); Lk 5:17-26
Come, O Lord, visit us in peace, that we may rejoice before you with a blameless heart.
Today we have another example of what was shared yesterday, that is, making haste, getting busy, making an effort, not being hindered in our search for God. The men who brought the paralyzed man to Jesus weren't going to let the crowds get in their way. They were creative and persevered: They went up on the roof and lowered him on the stretcher through the tiles into the middle in front of Jesus. May we be so eager and determined to encounter the Lord. May Jesus see our faith and say, As for you, yours sins are forgiven.
The Lord delays so that He can be merciful to you … If you are wise, give an eye to yourself and see how you are using this delay. If you are a sinner, do not be heedless but take the opportunity to repent. If you are holy the time is given you to progress in holiness, not to slip away from the faith.
