Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 4:63-78
Mass: Heb 5:1-10; Resp Ps 110; Mk 2:18-22
The word of God is living and effective, able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.A friend, high school teacher for nearly 19 years, asked that I remember young people in my prayers, for they are often misled. And to pray also for teachers. The following prayer is fitting for both, especially in anticipation of World Youth Day to take place in Panama, January 22-28:
Lord Jesus Christ, Saint Agnes loved you more than she loved approval, safety, or life itself. Through her intercession, protect the young from every form of seduction, and keep all your people faithful to your love for us, who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
(Magnficat, Prayer for the Morning, January 21, 2019)
Respect the elders and love the young.
SAINT AGNES, PRAY FOR US.
