Our Covid-19 Response

“May our Faith be Stronger than our Fears,” Sr. Kathy DeVico.

The Sisters of Redwoods Abbey wish to express our heartfelt sympathy and concern for all those affected by the Covid-19 virus.  May God bless the sick, their caretakers and health workers with his grace and peace. May the Holy Spirit provide strength, patience and healing for patients and their loved ones during these very trying days.  We thank our first-responders; fire, police, government officials and health workers, who are selflessly working long hours - even risking their own personal safety in order to combat the Covid-19 virus.  We are deeply grateful.

Please know that our daily prayer and Eucharist are being offered for you and all impacted by the virus.

Our religious tradition, which follows the Rule of St Benedict, places a strong value on hospitality. Welcome of guests is an integral part to our monastic witness at Redwoods Abbey. However, during this pandemic, we are following the guidelines of the Diocese of Santa Rosa and state and local governments in order to slow the spread of Covid-19 and keep our at-risk Sisters safe from possible infection. It is with a heavy heart, therefore, that we have decided to close the Guest House Until further notice.  There will be no celebration of Holy Week and Easter open to guests this year.  We will be reviewing the situation to see if it is necessary to extend this closure into our regular guest house season.

Please check for further announcements on this website www.redwoodsabbey.org, and read the newest blogs and articles. Stay in touch with social media posts on Facebook Twitter and Instagram.

This year our Lent will be lived out against a background of pandemic.  May we continue to look forward in hope to Holy Easter.

Thank you for your love and support!
