A Gift from the our Brothers

A Gift from the our Brothers

January 30, 2020

Abbot Paul Mark and Fr Stephen arrived from New Clairvaux Abbey in Vina California, bringing gifts.  They made the 5 hour trip hauling a squirrel, not the animal, but a machine.  It will be used at Redwoods for building maintenance on those high hard to reach gutters as well as for pruning fruit trees.

One of the great joys of the Cistercian family is the bond of charity that exists among monasteries.  This bond has existed since the very beginning of our Order in the 12th century and was formally established as the Charter of Charity.  New Clairvaux Abbey is located in the Central Valley of California and has always maintained fruit and nut orchards and so is able to lend us an extra piece of equipment.

Thank you Abbot Paul Mark and Brothers of New Clairvaux!
