Advent 2023

December 11, 2023

This year the season of Advent is only three weeks. Yes, we do have a Fourth Sunday of Advent, but the very next day is Christmas.

How can we get the most out of this precious time of preparation?  If you can, go to daily Mass, but if this is impossible, the Advent Daily Mass readings are very rich. Prayerfully pondering these texts in our hearts will open us to the grace of God in the Incarnation and in our own lives.

Other good resources are Sr. Kathy’s Chapter Talks and Sr. Gertrude’s blog . Both these links offer spiritual reflections from sisters of Redwoods.

You may also consider devoting yourself to some quiet time every day to contemplate God’s presence in nature.  Just talking a walk in prayerful gratitude for the gifts that surround us deepens our connection with God.

Whatever the means of our preparation, may it bring us into deeper union with God and his Incarnate Son, Jesus.
